Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter, a renowned architectural firm hailing from Oslo, has undertaken a remarkable project in eastern France. Led by architect Reiulf Ramstad, the studio's initiative involves the construction of various structures, including the impressive Chemin des Carrières, which serves as both a grand gateway and a picturesque hillside viewpoint. This ambitious endeavor aims to guide tourists to a historic quarry in the scenic Rosheim region, just on the outskirts of Strasbourg.

The Chemin des Carrières, spanning a length of 11 kilometers, meanders through the charming rural villages and breathtaking landscapes of Rosheim. Following the former railway tracks, this captivating pathway has been meticulously designed to reinterpret and pay homage to the landmarks and memories deeply ingrained in this area. Along its route, it traverses quarries and forests, offering an immersive experience for visitors.

“Ominous, sometimes hidden, the vestiges of the railway still mark the reading of the site.”

Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter, known for its exceptional architectural and design prowess, has successfully revitalized the Rosheim-St Nabor railway in France's Alsace region, transforming it into the enchanting Chemin des Carrières. This path features a series of distinct landscape sequences thoughtfully complemented by cultural pavilions and installations. To bring this vision to life, the architectural firm collaborated with Parenthèse Paysage, a landscape studio, to craft designs for five former station stops. Each of these stops has been tailored to harmonize with its unique surroundings, some providing shelter to visitors while others offering fresh and captivating vantage points. The project has garnered well-deserved recognition and acclaim, solidifying Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter's reputation as a trailblazing force in architecture and design.
